Did you know Halloween candy has zero calories if it’s “for the trick-or-treaters”? That’s science… or at least that’s what I’m telling myself after the third peanut butter cup.

ROAR STOPPER ALERT!  

Halloween week is upon us, Lions, a time when sugar highs peak, costume glue fails, and we’re still finding candy corn in places candy corn should never be. But before we dive headfirst into the chocolate stash, let’s take a moment to thank our mighty crew from the Trunk or Treat Vision Screening! You deserve a standing ovation… and probably a nap. Now, grab your calendar (and maybe a Snickers) because here’s what’s roaring this week:

PRE-SCHOOL VISION SCREENINGS:  Tiny Humans, Big Sass

October’s winding down, but there’s still time to jump in on the fun!  We’re still out at preschools across town helping little ones see the world more clearly. No experience needed… just bring your patience, good humor, and maybe a juice box for morale.

Dates: NOW through – Nov. 6
Time: 9:00 AM (done within an hour or two)
Location: 16 preschools around town

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: Roar for More - 
CLUB DIVIDED 

It’s game time, Lions! The Membership Drive has gone full football mode. We’re now split into two fierce teams:

Team Longhorns (Last names A - K): Led by Lion Charlie “Hook'em" Irvine


Team Aggies (Last names L - Z): Led by Lion Rich “Gig'em" Sproba 
Every recruiting move earns your team points on the scoreboard:
  • Post pics or social media shoutouts = Safety (2 points)
  • Bring a prospective member to lunch = Field Goal (3 points)
  • Turn in a new member application = Touchdown (7 points)
The final score will be revealed at the BIG GAME in November, so get out there and recruit like champions!

REAVES REWARDS: Tiny High-Fives Incoming -
 It’s reward time at Reaves Elementary! Join us as we hand out treats and congratulations to all the good little boys and girls for excellent conduct and attendance. Come ready with your Lion pride and big smiles… the kiddos love seeing us there.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION: Time to Shine -
It’s happening this week! Calling all new members - this one’s for you. Come learn who we are, what we do, and why Lions roar louder together. Sponsors, bring your prospects! It’s the perfect chance to show off our Eyeglass Recycling Center, earn points toward that shiny blue badge, and maybe convert a friend into a fellow Lion.

This week, we welcome Alex Edwards with United Way to share details about their new 211 Helpline - a community resource connecting people to essential services. It’s an inspiring look at how partnership and outreach can change lives. Let’s pack the room and give Alex a big Lion welcome!

The Hannahgram:  Candy, Chaos & Commitment Issues (with My Diet) Between screenings, sign-ups, and Halloween sugar comas, October has been a wild ride. My costume this year? A highly caffeinated Lion Secretary just trying to keep her car, her sanity, and her inbox from self-destructing. But hey, we made it through another week… and that’s something to roar about.
