Lions, did you know penguins propose with pebbles?
“Romantic. Elegant. And frankly, more thought-out than some of the ‘Hey, you should chair this committee’ proposals I’ve heard lately.
(Spoiler: if your pitch starts with ‘it won’t be that much work,’ it definitely will.)”
ROAR STOPPER ALERT!
October came in hotter than a preschooler on Capri Sun and chaos. We’ve got vision screenings, service projects, and enough sign-up links to crash a spreadsheet. If you’re thinking, “Should I be doing something right now?”… yes. Yes, you should. Also, shoutout to Columbus Day, the holiday that ghosted us all and left half the town yelling at locked bank doors. If you showed up to work Monday wondering where everyone was…congratulations, you’re officially too responsible. Go take a nap, champ.
PRE-SCHOOL VISION SCREENINGS: Tiny Humans, Big Energy
Kicks off THIS WEEK and runs all through October…basically every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Show up at 9:00 AM, and you’re usually out in an hour (unless a kid mistakes you for a jungle gym). NO experience needed, just a smile and maybe a little patience.
Can't do weekdays? This is your redemption arc. We'll be a the Healthy Kids Fair, screening eyes and gently reminding kids not to lick the equipment. Fun for all, if your idea of fun includes crowds, chaos, and squeaky gym floors.
TRUNK OR TREAT: Lions, Candy, Action
Costumes? Yes. Chaos? Always. We’re teaming up with the VFW to do vision screenings at their annual sugar-fueled Trunk or Treat. Come for the service, stay for the Spider-Man who forgot their mask and insists they’re “just resting their eyes.”
Date: Saturday, October 25 Time: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Two shifts- pick your poison) Location: VFW Sign-Up Link:click here
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: Roar Bucks or Bust
It’s The Lion Games and this year, may the odds be ever in your team’s group chat.
🅰️ A- Team: Led by Lion Charlie “I recruited three people and a houseplant” Irvine
🆉 Team Z: Led by Lion Rich “Z is for Zero Chill When It Comes to Winning” Sproba
(Yes, if your last name is M, you’re repping Team Z. Sorry, alphabet logic… we don’t make the rules. Just kidding, we totally do.)
Here’s how to rack up those sweet, sweet Roar Bucks:
Snap a photo wearing your Lion gear in public like the walking billboard you are = $500
Drag a friend to a meeting and smile like it’s totally normal = $1,000
Turn that friend into a full-fledged Lion (application submitted, glitter optional) = $2,000
Next week: we’re auctioning off Top Recruiters like rare vinyl, and you’re gonna want the best on your team. Think Shark Tank meets the PTA with way more bragging rights and none of the snacks. Big Roar Bucks. Bigger drama. Eternal glory. Let the games begin.
WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY: Lion Ed Drops Some Knowledge
Lion Ed Roth wants to remind us that October 15 is National White Cane Safety Day- a day to honor the independence, confidence, and total boss energy of those who are blind or visually impaired. The white cane isn’t just a stick, it’s a statement. Learn more and flex your awareness muscles: Click here
THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM: Government Grit
State Rep. Will Metcalf is coming in hot with a Legislative Update. Want to know what’s going down at the Capitol without reading 800 pages of legalese? He’s your guy. Also, it’s a rare chance to look smart while nodding seriously and taking fake notes.
The Hannahgram: Somewhere Between Fabulous and Frazzled
October’s been a full-on Lion circus… and lucky me, I’m the ringmaster, the juggler, and the clown car driver. Still standing. Still sparkling. Still one group text away from faking my own disappearance. And yes, “professional cat herder” is absolutely going on my résumé.
