President Rennell recognized our much-appreciated Community Partners of the Week’, IES Residential - Grant Potepan and Logan Mizell and JDF Construction, Jake Freeman. Lion Andrew Perry asked for additional help at our upcoming Service Saturday to do a much needed rebuild on a fence for two very senior ladies in the community.
A few “strong backs” were particularly requested, but there is work for everyone who comes out. Lion Connie Engle has an upcoming Vision Screening at the Community Assistance Center and new and old members of her team are needed. Lion Madison Perry reported on the tremendous success and growth of our Conroe LEO club, which now has over sixty members. They are very engaged in community service such as volunteering at the Montgomery County Food Bank last weekend where they assembled 283 boxes of produce for distribution to equal over two TONS of food and 3 1/2 thousand meals for local families in need. She also asked Lions to participate in the Leo Club meetings and activities and assist with chaperone duties. Our Lion of the Month, Colette Stelly was recognized for her terrific support with the CAC Vision Screening team.
Third VP Jake Freeman reminded everyone that the Sign-Ups for the Montgomery County Fair Concessions will be closing soon. Anyone not already signed up for the day of their choice will be filled in to make sure we have adequate manpower for our commitment to operate the Concession Stand.
Lion Morgan Freeman encouraged everyone to keep going with the Spring Membership “Scavenger Hunt” Drive where the competition is between the Guys and Gals. And she reminded us that the Top Point score is for New Members sponsored into the club.
Past President, Lion Bobby Brennan introduced the March “Shake It Up” Madness. Each table assigned to one of the Texas NBA teams worked through a bracket of competitive factors and questions to identify their champion player and to name their table’s team. Champions representing one or the other main group then stepped up to the free throw line to try to score a basket with a standard size ball and a tiny hoop. The competition was hot, and the teams enthusiastically cheered on their champions. Ultimately, Lion Steve Jung was our victorious Roundball Shoot-Out and applauded by all.
President Rennell reminded everyone to sign up for the Fair and to support our other ongoing service projects before adjourning the meeting.
