At the midpoint of its service year, the Conroe Noon Lions Club is demonstrating what sustained community commitment looks like, delivering wide-ranging service projects in Conroe while contributing to humanitarian efforts around the world under this year’s theme, “Taking It to the Next Level.”
So far this year, the club’s work has been supported by local business partners who have contributed $199,000 toward Lions-led philanthropic activities, helping fund programs that address health, youth development, inclusion, and community well-being. In addition, Lions volunteers have collectively contributed 6,600 volunteer hours across 70 service projects, directly impacting 30,000 individuals and families in Montgomery County and beyond.
Vision care remains a cornerstone of service through the Conroe Noon Lions Club Eye Recycling Center, a dedicated facility that manufactures new prescription glasses while repairing and refurbishing thousands of donated eyeglasses for distribution to people in need around the world. This year alone, Lions volunteers conducted vision screenings for 450 local preschool children and helped provide eye exams and glasses for 35 students whose families lack access to care. By combining local service with global outreach, Conroe Noon exemplifies the Lions’ long-standing mission to protect sight and improve quality of life across generations and borders.

One of the club’s most visible efforts has been its blood drive, which collected 25 units of blood, supporting area hospitals and emergency needs. The Lions have also expanded their monthly “Service Saturday” initiative, bringing members into hands-on projects such as the Healthy Kids Fair, ongoing partnerships with Reaves Elementary School, and holiday decorating at New Danville—each designed to meet immediate local needs while strengthening long-term community relationships.

Conroe Noon continued its tradition of inclusive recreation through ‘kids on the lake’, an annual fishing event that provides children with disabilities and their families a day of outdoor enjoyment and connection. This year’s event hosted 72 children and caregivers, supported by 28 volunteers and community sponsors.

A major milestone this year has been the rapid growth of the Conroe Leo Club, a service organization for secondary school students. Now boasting more than 70 members, the Leo Club is cultivating a new generation of civic leaders committed to service locally and globally. Leo members have participated in several service activities, signaling a strong pipeline of future Lions and community advocates.

Beyond Conroe, the club’s efforts align with Lions Clubs International’s global causes, including vision, hunger, youth, disaster relief, and humanitarian service. Funds raised locally help support both area needs and international initiatives, extending Conroe’s impact far beyond city limits.
CNLC leaders say the progress reflects a strong partnership between volunteers and the local business community. “Our community partners make this work possible,” said Tracy Irvine, President of the Conroe Noon Lions Club. “Their support allows us to turn service ideas into real outcomes for people who need it.”
