Conroe Noon Lions: Lions mark the halfway point of the year by looking back, moving forward

Happy New Year!  It has been a complete honor to serve as the President of the Conroe Noon Lions Club; or better known as the ‘greatest Lions Club in the world.’ And as we mark the halfway point in our club year, it’s inspiring to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared and the impact we’ve made together. Starting the year amid the challenges of Hurricane Beryl, we have demonstrated resilience and a deep commitment to service.  This year has already been filled with significant accomplishments, and we are poised for even greater success in the months ahead.

Our service projects have been nothing short of extraordinary.  From hosting our fall Blood Drive to organizing multiple Service Saturday projects, including home repairs for the elderly, a workday at Lions Park, and assisting the teachers with first-day of school projects.  Our Sight Conservations Programs conducted Vision Screenings, eyeglasses for multiple mission trips, along with eye exams for those in need.  Plus, bringing joy to children with our ‘Kids on the Lake’ - fishing tournament, our efforts have touched countless lives.  Each project reflects our unwavering dedication to our community and the Lions’ mission of serving those in need.

One of the most exciting developments this year has been the explosive growth of our Leo’s Club.  With over 40 members now actively participating, the future of our Lions family looks brighter than ever.  The enthusiasm and energy of these young leaders remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to keep striving for excellence.

Our fall membership drive was another highlight. With the theme “Ask Me to Roar!” and eye-catching blue t-shirts to match, this campaign brought our members into the community, spreading awareness and inviting others to join our cause.  The photos and videos captured during this drive were a testament to the fun and camaraderie that define Conroe Noon.

On the fundraising front, we’ve reached remarkable milestones.  The Community Partnership fundraiser exceeded our goal!  The Clay Shoot event broke all previous records, raising the most money in its history. Meanwhile, the Lucky Derby proved to be a tremendous success, further showcasing the strength and support of our community.  Congratulations to Past President Ricky Morton on winning the last Buckalew Chevrolet in the Lucky Derby raffle!

As we look forward to the second half of our Lions year, the excitement continues to build.  We have a packed calendar of service projects, including our signature Dinner/Dance & Auction event on February 14th. This year’s theme, “Lions Under the Lone Star,” promises an unforgettable evening, so grab your boots and hat and plan to join the celebration.

In addition, we’re gearing up to roll up our sleeves and serve at the Montgomery County Fair in April, where we’ll man the concession stand. In May, we’ll come together for a work weekend at the Texas Lions Camp, continuing our tradition of supporting children with special needs.  And, of course, we’ll enjoy a fun-filled day later in May as we hit the links for the annual golf tournament.

This year’s theme, “True Grit,” has guided us in every endeavor.  As John Wayne once said, “True Grit is making a decision and standing by it, doing what must be done.” Each CNLC member has exemplified this spirit, stepping up to serve and making a difference in our community.  Your dedication and hard work inspire me and reminds us of the incredible impact we can achieve together.

As we continue this journey, I encourage all Lions to invite friends and colleagues to join our mission.  Let’s keep building on our successes, supporting each other, and making a lasting difference.  The second half of the year promises to be just as rewarding as the first, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together.
