Conroe Noon Lions' 'Lion“ o’clock Somewhere' fundraiser full of fun, chill vibes

I don’t know where you were last Thursday night, but at the Lone Star Convention Center it was “Lion“ o’clock Somewhere” and the party was in full swing. The Conroe Noon Lions Club’s annual Legend of the Lion – Dinner/Dance & Auction was another rousing success with a chill vibe, plenty of Hawaiian shirts, great food, and a lot of FUN.
It was great to see our Community Partners, club members, and the many guests from our community come together for a great cause. A big THANK YOU to all of the committee members and committee chairs, who spent countless hours putting on this event. Lion Connie Engle did a great job with the decorations and the beach balls were plenty. The silent auction items were amazing, and the bids were high thanks to chairman Lion, Sandy Apostolo, and her committee.
Lion, Rich Sproba and his committee organized some great live auction items including a helicopter ride, a game hunt, dinner, transportation, and 4 tickets to the Astros game of choice, and a 4-night stay at a fabulous condo in Key West with travel vouchers included. The bead game led by Lions Mike and Robin Sproba was a huge success selling out quickly with more beads than ever. And as always, our auctioneer Lion Greg Smith, and our MC Lion Pat C Davis did a wonderful job energizing the crowd.
Thank you to all of the generous donors and community members who purchased these items. Your generosity enables us to serve our community and have a worldwide impact through our many service projects. From our eyeglass recycling center located here in Conroe that provides eyeglasses all over the world, the eyeglass program for school aged children, to our monthly service Saturday projects providing a helping hand to many individuals and organizations in our community, your support is invaluable.
But who says fundraising can’t be fun? A good time was had by all with a fabulous shrimp and steak, dinner served by Spectrum Catering. Justice of the Peace, Lion Wayne Mack and his wife, Lion Mindy Mack were fashion icons for the evening with fabulous tropical outfits for themselves and their entourage. Not to be outdone, Conroe Noon Lions Club President Jason Miller and First Vice President Brian Rennell were sporting custom It’s “Lions” o’clock Somewhere festive polos. And how about the band Hanna‘s Reef, their music put us all in Margaritaville for the evening.

If you weren’t there last week, you missed quite a party. But don’t worry there’ll be one next year and the theme is sure to be just as much fun. You can participate in the festivities next year by becoming a community partner, or asking any Conroe Noon Lion about this event.
